Shoe Stop was started in 1978 by Semon and Joan Frelich and their three
sons - Jim, Steve and Jeff. Originally
located at Olive and Fee Fee, this
family business currently has two locations in the St. Louis area, as well as a
store on
Amazon.com.
Specializing in ladies footwear for less (20%-60% below
department store prices), Shoe Stop also caters to the hard-to-find size with
a great selection of narrows, mediums, wides and sizes 4 through 13.
In 1991, Kelly joined the family business when she married Steve. They have
three boys - Josh, Dave and Sam and a baby girl, Sydney Nicole.
All family members, besides being on the sales floor, have their part in keeping
Shoe Stop going strong. Kelly does the payroll, and Jim and Steve do the purchasing and distributing. Jeff started his own reggae record label in 2003,
Skank Records,
and does the scheduling and advertising.(Jeff retired in 2020 and Jim retired 4 years later. Steve is the only one left working and he is running the remaining store in Florissant).
This close-knit family loves to have fun and prides themselves on their
friendly customer service. They invite you to shop their Florissant store
and see for yourself why Shoe Stop continues to remain one of St. Louis' favorite
ladies shoe stores.
We're saddened to say that our beloved Joan passed away on Oct. 12, 2008. She was
the heart and soul of our business. She was diagnosed with Lung cancer at the end of August and left us quickly. We miss her and will always love her.
We're again sad to say that our father passed on August 31, 2014 and is now with the love of his life, our mom. We miss you and love you both!
